Here are some photos I took during 2007 (bar the image from Le Sacre Cur, Paris which was 2006). I graduated from an Arts Institute here in South England in the summer, so comments would be good. These are only several of thousands I take during various visits to towns and cities. I suppose this could be considered street photography. But not as Mr Meyerowitz would have it????. I will be setting up a proper photography page soon. Ah, but what to put on it??? Photography is another passion besides music.
Yes I know.... not very inspiring titles!
DOH!!!!!! I deleted the old 'speaker' icon and replaced them with the new images. But it deleted all the brilliant comments everyone posted!!! I assumed it would have kept all the messages.
To all those who were kind enough to leave a comment about our songs, could you repost for us? Or if this is your first listening, any feedback would be great.
Thanks and Happy New Year
Russ
Hi to all in this group. All credit to funkcartel for setting up another platform for us all to lift ourselves onto.
For those of you who haven't listened to our tracks I've included them here. Please give a listen and post your feedback. If you haven't time to read our blog, we are songwriters not performing artists, so the tracks we produce are for others to record which is why they may not be to the highest standard they would be if we were releasing them ourselves.
Thanks for listening
Russ
Just keeping the process moving.
Another big thank you to those who have listened to our tracks and given such positive comments and advice.
We have had an especially encouraging response from someone across the water who has ties with a well known artist and has been in the business a few years. So his comments and advice passed to us have been duly noted and we are now in the process of acting on several of his ideas.
We are being added to several new neighbourhoods which is always encouraging and I will get to all those who want comments posted soon. Of course, it goes without saying that, in return, a visit to our songs would be appreciated.
Pete and I have discussed plans for the next phase of our songwriting partnership and we have decided that we will start recording the new material in the New Year - so as not to disrupt the domestic harmony for Xmas etc. I have several outlined tracks ready to feed to Pete and when completed I'm really looking forward to placing them on VOX and getting comments from you all.
I would be really interested in hearing about the process you all use to write songs. As ours is such an organic process and develops from initial ideas I give to Pete, I would be interested in how you all write. Is it spontaneous, does it take a while to develop, do you write lyrics first etc? All the usual songwriting questions, but interesting to hear it from the horses mouth - as it were!
Merry Xmas everyone
Russ
For those of you who may read this, but haven't heard the songs yet I'll put them up again.
It's been a couple of weeks on the blog now and there have been some excellent posts to our tracks. Thanks to everyone who took the time to engage with our songs. There have been some especially positive, warm and encouraging messages from likeminded artists and creatives who see this site for what it was created for. Thank you. If this continues in such a positive way I can see this as the only way forward in terms of getting our music into the people who have the enviable position of putting us artists out to the public and hopefully bring us the financial support we all need to keep creating.
One thing I have learnt very quickly is that sitting back and not engaging with the process is fatal. There seems to be a number of 'bloggers' who seem to think that just because they have registered and put their music on the site that everyone will automatically listen to their music. It's a community, right? So join the community and engage! (Scotty!) Listen to others and post!!! It amazing what starts to happen and quite quickly.
It would be good to know from everyone if putting a personal bio on the blog is actually worth it? I guess we can all rattle off the places we played, who we've played with, who we bought a pint etc etc But do you want to hear about all that or are the songs enough???
And as always, if this is the first time on our blog please give a listen to our songs and post a comment - always appreciated.
Russ
Being, what someone else coined, a 'blogging virgin' I'm starting to catch on with all this and thought I'd better put some more stuff on the site.
I'm off today, day off but not too well anyway, so I have some time.
As you can guess by our bio there are two of us. But I think it will be me (Russ) who will posting most of the entries on here and listening to others out there and posting comments etc.
I'm getting together a more personal bio on each of us as we have been around a while and been through the usual music venture - bands, more bands, gigs, demos, more demos, circuits, ligging, hanging out with etc etc. But it does seem people like to know who you are and your background.
I don't know how personal you get but I can let you know what tea I drink or what bike Mike across the road has, if that's your preference ha ha!!!! But I guess it's mainly muso garb and knowledge of being in this beautiful game? Anything I have learnt over the years that will be of any worth to anyone will be happily passed on.
It's good to be able to tap into what others are doing. I've already listened to some great stuff. I wish I had time to sit here all day! There also seems to be some great links out there to the pro's. Certainly beats trying to get appointments in London etc.
Being new to this side of the business ie songwriting/publishing, I would appreciate any info or contacts you know of who would be interested in hearing our tracks or if you want to record them yourself.
Also, Pete is the technical one, so any info on recording etc is his domain. I just compose and play! Oh and take photographs!
That will do for now. I hope you like the tracks and please, please put some comments as we really want to know if we have the ability to make it as songwriters.
Best of luck and happiness to all.
Russ
These are the first three compositions from the forthcoming album "God Knows". We hope this project will lead to a career as a songwriting partnership and we are looking for professional artists who would be interested in recording our compositions or publishers who will see potential in these tracks to be used by professional artists. Please leave any feedback as we would be interested to hear the opinions of the public and professionals who we feel would find this project of interest.
This is our first venture into the world of songwriting as a career move. We've been in various bands for years and written many 'band' based songs. But we feel it is now time to concentrate on the compositional side of music. We are aiming at a publishing deal and invite any publishers listening to give critical comments on the music. The fact we now have our songs on the net and the potential of millions of listeners will gauge our abilities as composers.
We are not precious where our songs will be placed and we believe our first efforts are definitely in the female vocal arena, ie Girls Aloud, SugarBabes kind of style. Or even male vocal bands in Westlife kind of vain etc
Enjoy. Russ & Pete
